These last few weeks have been very eye opening to me on a few levels.
As a dressmaker, who is very proud of her craft and believes there is still much to learn, I have come to the devistating realisation that I am one of only a handful left in the industry in this great city of Brisbane or Qld or even Australia??!!!
I have recently been doing some work for a couple of companies, in Brisbane, whose staff are all fast approaching retirement age.
This being the case, as a 34 year old {still learning all the time dressmaker}
I am feeling the preasure and in a way and the quiet desperation that comes from people in an industry when they find someone of sound capabilities and even better with many working years ahead of them.
Enter Jennifer
I feel that in a way I have appeared to them as a becon of hope, that there maybe SOMEONE to take over from the generation of Dressmakers that are now ready to pass the torch and take some time for themselves.
But I fear I am one in very few and as much as I would love to help everyone and support all the businesses who are still working here in Australia and not moving their workrooms offshore, I want to do my own thing too.
Is there a happy middle ground?
Why are all the young ones coming through our colleges and uni's so fixated on becoming designers?
Do I have society to blame?

K.I.S.S.
Wow what a begining to the working week it's been!?
I have been unable to use my hand properly therefore unable to do what I want to do without pain!
So very frustrating!
But after a visit to the physio, I think all is on the mend.
It has given me some serious mental blocks and has challenged me to get back to simpler activities.
So my motto for the rest of the week is
Keep It Simple Stupid!
So K.I.S.S everyone!
Have a great week!

My First Etsy Sale
Well I had a sneaking suspicion that I would wake up this moring to find I had made my first sale from my etsy shop. I was so caught off guard, though, when I realised I'd sold all four of my Butterfly by Me cards in one go! These are my mothers favorites and she even said they would sell well, Mums always know best.
Not only that though, I have also been featured in an Etsy Treaury by cocoboudoir.etsy.com too! She has done the most beautiful treasury called simply Coco, just stunning!
So I am very inspired, honoured and a little relieved.
I am full of hope and feel I am actually living my dream!
Have a great day, I am!

And For my First Post.....
So at the time that I am starting this new Blog I have so much happening,
I have recently started a busines from home, Dressmaking.
The thing is I really dont want to do just Dressmaking.
Dont get me wrong I love it, but I believe that this is my time to explore all my creative
wims and do things I have longed to do my whole life.
So here is just a little something to break the ice and get started in the Blogasphear.
I have had a blog previously and used it to share with the world my inspirations and the things I find beautiful.
But it never felt completely right, like I was talking to myself and yes I do believe for a while you are really talking to yourself when you first start a blog.
This time though will be a little different I have a place to work on my craft and an outlet to share it with the world,I'm keen on networking and will be getting my work out there anyway I can.
For one I have opened an Etsy store!
And I plan on working very hard to make it a successful and inspiring business.
You can find me at jennifersgift.etsy.com
I truley believe in what I'm doing now and have amazing support from my family and freinds.
Please take a look and drop me a line if there is anything you would like to know about me or my store.
Thank you for stopping by.
